Program Introduction（产品设计专业简介）

The Product Design Program at NCU is part of the Department of Industrial Design within the School of Architecture and Design. It originated from the previous Industrial Design Program, which first admitted engineering students in 1993 and art students in 2001. The program was designated a Jiangxi Provincial Brand Program in 2004 and a Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program in 2021. It has earned multiple distinctions, including: designation as a National First-Class Undergraduate Course (inaugural cohort) and an MOE Ideological and Political Education Model Course; recognition as an MOE Ideological and Political Education Teaching Team; approval as an MOE New Liberal Arts Research and Reform Practice Project (inaugural selection); the First Prize of the Jiangxi Provincial Teaching Achievement Award; and recognition as a Jiangxi Provincial High-Level Undergraduate Teaching Team.

Building on this program, the Department of Industrial Design was authorized to confer a master’s degree in Design Art (now a First-level Discipline of Design) in 2000. It subsequently gained approval to offer a Master of Engineering in Industrial Design Engineering in 2005 and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in 2009. The Design Art Discipline was also recognized as a Key Discipline of Jiangxi Province during both the 10th and 11th Five-Year Plan periods. In 2013, the arts track of the Industrial Design program was renamed the Product Design program.

Career Prospects（就业前景）

In recent years, the graduate employment rate for our program has consistently averaged 96%. Our alumni typically develop into core design professionals, key technical personnel, and managers within design institutions or corporate sectors. Others contribute to the fields of design education and research, and a significant number have launched successful entrepreneurial ventures. Furthermore, many graduates pursue advanced studies at prestigious universities both within China and abroad, such as the University of the Arts London, Zhejiang University, Hunan University, and Jiangnan University. As a result, our graduates enjoy a good reputation and are highly competitive.
